CONSEQUENCES OF LOW POWER FACTOR: -

 

  1. It contributes additional load on distribution lines, transformers and generators.
  2. The rotor of generator draws more current at lower power factor and imposes a danger of overheating rotor coil.
  3. The electricity provider is imposing high penalty charges to those who fails to observe the guideline to improve their electrical system p.f to 0.85 or better
